fisher in the Baltic sea - 3D documentation

Documentary film on a stricken fisherman boat and german SAR (search and rescue).

This is one of the first stereoscopic 3D documentary films ever made in Germany.
At a time when there were no handy 3D rigs available I had to find another solution to bring the two cameras as closer together as possible.

Only that way I was able to get close to my protagonists and to film in a flexible documentary way.

For the wide and planned shots I used some bigger cameras, but for the handheld close shots I had a pair of Sonys FullHD TG3 fastened on a special 3D handheld rig.

The stereo base of about 65mm (what we know as interpupillary distance or common eye distance) was just perfect for my needs.
